Founded in 2000, House of Dawn is a publicly led non-profit 501(c) 3 organization. In 2004 House of Dawn became part of the G-CAPP (Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention) network for Second Chance Homes and became the ninth Second Chance Home in the State of Georgia.
Services we provide
House of Dawn provides a stable, loving, home to 4 teen mothers ages 13 to19 and their children at risk for potential homelessness, physical, psycho-emotional and sexual abuse.
Under adult supervision and a highly trained staff, each young mother and her child will benefit from:
- Childcare
- Counseling
- Educational
- Recreational opportunities
- Life skills training
- Parenting education
- Employment skills
- Mental and physical health services.
Preparation for post secondary education and vocational training will be the thrust of the program to prepare these young women for independence, self sufficiency and effective parents capable of rearing strong families.
House of Dawn has established collaborative partnerships within the community of Clayton County to enhance the overall program goals and objectives; we have extend ourselves to outreach activities that promote prevention of teenage pregnancy, enhancement of educational Opportunities, child development child care services and independent living support services.
The residents to be served will be private placements as well as placements from the Department of Family and Children Services and the Department of Juvenile Justice.
House of Dawn offers a Transitional Living Program for homeless single women ages 18-23 and their children who need supportive housing assistance. This program is designed to provide affordable housing while providing a life coach.
